Rod Wave Allegedly Had A Lean-Filled Baby Bottle During Arrest

Rod Wave allegedly had a baby bottle filled with lean when he was arrested in Atlanta last Friday. According to an arrest warrant obtained by Atlanta News First, officers claimed the bottle contained “1 fl oz of a purple liquid, which I suspected to be promethazine.” The discovery came after police stopped the rapper, real name Rodarius Green, for reportedly speeding at 45 mph in a 30 mph zone.

After following him into a nearby QuikTrip gas station, an officer informed him he was being arrested for reckless driving and allegedly noticed “an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.” When asked if he had any weapons, Wave didn’t respond. During a pat down, the officer reportedly found a black .40 caliber Glock with a high-capacity magazine. A further search of the vehicle uncovered Oxycodone pills and two firearms, along with the suspected lean-filled baby bottle.

Rod Wave’s attorney, Drew Findling, called the arrest unjust and politically motivated. “On November 7th, the same day Rodarius Green earned a Grammy nomination, he was unjustly profiled and unlawfully arrested in Atlanta,” he said in a statement to XXL. “The arresting officer belongs to the Atlanta Police Department’s controversial Crime Suppression Unit, a group known for its aggressive tactics and emphasis on high arrest numbers rather than genuine public safety. Mr. Green was targeted as part of this quota-driven approach.”

The 25-year-old artist was charged with reckless driving, possession of controlled substances, and possession of a firearm or knife. His passenger, Jamond Byner, was also arrested. Both posted bond the following day, just hours after Rod Wave earned his first Grammy nomination for “Sinners,” featured in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners film.
