Every week, MBKS highlights one of the city’s rising stars — the voices shaping the sound of tomorrow. This week, we’re shining the spotlight on OSO BORN LEGEND, an upcoming Memphis artist whose grind, passion, and story represent everything MBKS stands for: talent, hustle, and heart.
The Story Behind the Music
OSO BORN LEGEND grew up in South Memphis and Westwood area, surrounded by the rhythm of Memphis’ streets and soul. His love for music started around 12-14 years old. This started from a struggle of only having a radio in his room with no bed listening to Lil Wayne, Kanye, Jeezy, Yo Gotti and Gucci Mane to name a few. “That’s when I realized I wanted to rap” OSO stated. He began writing in a binder. His favorite rappers that he grew to resonate with is Wayne, Drake, Kanye, J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Dolph, Moneybagg, Starlito and Don Trip which solidified his desire and motivation to keep going.
When asked what inspires their music or a quote he would like to share, OSO BORN LEGEND stated: “It cost less to be true to yourself, pretending to be some you’re not is too expensive and will cost you everything eventually.”
